Fourth of July events
* The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3536 of Costa Mesa will hold its
29th annual Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon today at
the Veterans Memorial Hall, 567 W. 18th St. $3 for adults, and $2 for
children 12 and younger.
* The fifth annual Tri-Ward Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast and
Bicycle Parade will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. today at the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ parking lot, 2150 Bonita Canyon Drive,
Newport Beach. Free.
* The 29th annual Mariners Park Fourth of July Parade, Carnival and
Car Show will begin at 10 a.m. today at the park, 1770 W. Balboa, Newport
Beach. Free.
* The 43rd annual Independence Day Extravaganza at the Newport Dunes
Waterfront Resort will begin at 10 a.m. today and continue until 5 p.m.
Events will include water balloon tosses and Hula-Hoop contests at 10,
10:30 and 11:30 a.m.; family volleyball at 11 a.m.; a bike and in-line
skating parade at 1 p.m.; a horseshoe tournament at 2 p.m.; and
watermelon contests for kids and adults from 4:30 to 5 p.m. 1131 Back Bay
Drive, Newport Beach. $10 per car.
