Seminar will focus on understanding Islam
Laguna Presbyterian Church will hold a seminar titled,
“Understanding Islam: It’s Roots and Relationship With the Christian
Church.”
The discussion will include the question: “Does the media’s mix of
truth, myth and rumor leave you confused about Muslims, their world
and their relationship to Christianity?”
Nate Feldmeth, associate dean for extended education and professor
of church history at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, will
examine the historic roots of Islam, its similarities and differences
to Christianity and its conflicts with the Christian Church through
the centuries.
The seminar is open to the public. It will begin at 7 p.m. on
Sunday in the church’s parlor, 415 Forest Ave.
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship sermons
The Rev. James E. Grant will discuss “We Are Who We Celebrate” at
10:30 a.m. on Sunday at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429
Cypress Drive.
On May 11 he will hold a “Question Box Sermon” using suggested
topics from the audience.
Laguna Presbyterian service information
The Rev. Steve Sweet will give both the 9 and 11 a.m. sermons. The
9 a.m. services will include Chancel Choir and Praise Ensemble.
The 11 a.m. service is a contemporary service with Praise
Ensemble.
Sunday School will be offered during the 9 a.m. service for
second- and third-grade children as well as well as nursery and
toddler care.
