PAGEANT BACKSTAGE TOUR

PAUL SOLDNER CERAMICIST AT FOA

Today and Saturday the Festival of Arts will host “Paul Soldner

Ceramic Workshop and Lecture,” a rare opportunity to participate in a

ceramic workshop conducted by Soldner who is an award winning

American Raku Master. The 2-day workshop is $85 or one-day (Saturday)

class $50. The Festival is located at 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

LBHS DANCE COMPANY’S DANCE EXPO

The award winning Laguna Beach Dance Company presents DancExpo,

its spring dance concert at 7:30 p.m. May 2, 3, 9 and 10, featuring

choreography by: Tod A. Kubo, Stam, Mychelle Perez, Collin Rand,

Julia Abel, Catherine Shoffner, Shaylen Keller and Jessica Schnyder.

DancExpo will be performed at the Artists’ Theatre at 625 Park Ave.

LAGUNA COLLEGE ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT ART EXHIBIT

Laguna College of Art & Design is presenting its annual Juried

Student Art Exhibition which offers the “Best of the Best.” The

exhibit will feature original artwork by the students offer work in

drawing and painting, illustration, graphic design, animation and

sculpture. The runs through May 5. The college is at 2222 Laguna

FESTIVAL OF ARTS CERAMICISTS SHOW AT WELLS FARGO

An exhibit focusing on the art of ceramics by Festival of Arts

exhibitors is being presented at the Wells Fargo on Ocean Avenue. The

exhibit offers the diverse work of Monica Dunham, Denise Ford, Walter

Reiss, Greg Riley, Jay Sampson, Fred Stodder and Scott Young. The

exhibit will run through May 5 and is part of an ongoing series of

shows that the Festival of Arts is having at Wells Fargo this year.

FAMILY SING ALONG

Every fourth Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. No Square

Theatre will have a family sing along with the renowned Terry Alaric

on piano. Show tunes and standards are encouraged for live piano

accompaniment. Participants can bring their own sheet music or choose

from what is provided. No Square Theatre is at 221 Broadway.

A TASTE OF WINE

Wine tasting takes place every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Len’s

Wine Cite. Different wines will be sampled each week. Len’s is at 303

POETRY MEETING

Laguna Poets meet at 8 p.m. Fridays on the third floor of Wells

Fargo Bank at 260 Ocean Ave. Bring poems to this free evening of

poetry sharing and reading.

SATURDAY

OPEN STUDIO EVENT

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday the Laguna Canyon Artists

are will have its bi-annual open studio event. Twenty-plus artist

studios are open to the public for two days only. Add to your

collection, find unique gifts, see working artist studios and works

in progress, featuring, painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry,

glass and other mediums. The studios are two miles from Main Beach on

Laguna Canyon Road studios 21062, 21080, 3251 and 3275. Look for the

“Art Studios Open” signs. There will be refreshments and free

‘WHITENESS’ AT LAM

The new exhibit “Whiteness, A Wayward Construction” at the Laguna

Art Museum is a group exhibition of 28 individual artists and

collaborative teams working in various media, who explore

representations of whiteness. The underlying assumption of the

exhibit is that everyone in the United States is constructed in the

political imagination as a racial subject. The exhibit is curated by

Tyler Stallings. Laguna Art Museum is located at 307 Cliff Drive.

Romeo Cucina will feature Latin jazz and dancing with Ivan

LIVE MUSIC

Laguna Beach Live! presents Price Kent Trio, oboe, harp and flute

at the concert today from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The concert is free and will

be held at the Laguna College of Art and Design at 2222 Laguna Canyon

MARINE ROOM

Missiles of October, a Laguna-based band, will perform from 4 to 8

LEONARD KAPLAN EXHIBIT AT LAGUNA ART MUSEUM

“Waking Dreams: The Art of Leonard Kaplan,” will run through July
