For such a tiny store, Oogly Booglyz 4 Kidz packs in a lot of darling

kid’s clothes, sizes newborn to 6. Owner Connie McGowan selects

smaller clothing manufacturers not found in department stores,

predominantly from California and some vintage dresses from EB Baby.

Daddy- and mommy-and-me outfits, handmade jewelry, local hand knitted

items, hair accessories, sunglasses and infant shoes from Goody

Goody. A Hawaiian line called Hawaii Five-O is popular, as well as

car seat covers in Hawaiian prints. McGowan recently added a new line

of chenille blankets, throws and pillows from Kiskissa, and an

English line of girl’s clothing from Dani. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

GIFTS ON THE GO

The Garden Gate is a full service floral and gift shop. Weddings

and private home arrangements are their specialty. Owner Raymond Foo

offers delivery anywhere in Orange County, plant maintenance and even

decorates Christmas trees. During the holidays arrangements are

especially beautifully designed and there’s a nice gift section.

Throughout the year there are Czechlovakian glass vases, lamps, Bebe

Winkler vintage pillows from New York and pottery. Open 9 a.m. to

UDO’S EUROPEAN OPTICAL

European Optical. Locals who have shopped here for nearly 30 years

call it Udo’s. It’s Laguna’s best eyewear shop. With 120 eyewear

designers to choose from and a lab on the premises it’s above the

rest. Owner and optician Udo Steoeckmann is known for salvaging

customer’s favorite broken frames and does while you wait repairs.

Teenagers to grandparents shop here for cutting edge to conservative

style frames. Stylish lines are from Eye’ DC, Kyo Yamato, Imago,

Alain Mikli, JF Rey and Microshapes, Anna Sui, Harry Larry and Chanel

are making a big comeback. It has the hottest line in eyewear; Kazuo

Kawasaki 2.5 Eyephonics, ultra-light at 2.5 grams in dressy or sporty

designs. Custom frames are available from Kala eyewear. Open 10 a.m.

to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at

Boutique Marianna carries a big selection of workout wear, evening

wear, pajamas, hard-to-find dance shoes and apparel for women and

children; jewelry and leather goods. Name brands include: Nick & Nora

and P.J. Salvage pajamas; Capezio and Barryshnikov dance wear; and

City Lights and Satori Sport workout wear. Brighton, a Los Angeles

based company for silver accented purses, bags, hair jewelry, eyewear

and shoes is carried here. Good quality clothing. Colors don’t fade

and fabrics won’t shrink. Owners Phyllis and Chris Wood love

antiques, they sell antique lighting and home accessories here too.

Thirty-year-olds on up shop at On Board Clothes for Women for

casual comfortable clothing, sizes 2 to 14. The styles range from

loose fitting pants and tops, to tailored capris and stretch tops.

Popular brands change with each season. In spring and summer Tommy

Bahama and Jams arrive, other brands include Sigrid Olsen, Allen
