PTA will discuss zero-tolerance policy
The Harbor Council Parent Teacher Assn. will host an informative
event at 7 p.m. Tuesday that will focus on drugs, alcohol and the
Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s zero-tolerance policy.
Students held town meetings to brainstorm how to better the school
district’s response to alcohol and drug abuse at the high schools.
Now parents will get their chance to share their thoughts and hear
the thoughts of a variety of experts.
The event, purposely scheduled just before prom and end of the
year festivities, will have speakers discussing drug trends and
warning signs, the legal implications of drug and alcohol use and
abuse for students and parents, and how to deal with teens facing
drug and alcohol issues.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held from 7 to 9
p.m. at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave.
