Police on Thursday arrested a 42-year-old Costa Mesa man on
suspicion of raping a woman on the night of May 5, officials said.
Jose Guadalupe-Zaragosa was arrested without incident, police
said.
The victim is in her 40s and the incident reportedly happened at a
business in the 2000 block of Harbor Boulevard, Sgt. Bob Ciszek said.
Force was used, and the woman suffered cuts and bruises, he said.
Guadalupe-Zaragoza, who was an acquaintance of the victim, is being
held in Orange County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Police seek two suspects in mugging
Costa Mesa police are looking for two suspects they say robbed a
man who was walking near Pomona Avenue and 19th Street at about 8:30
p.m. Thursday, officials said.
The victim was approached by two men in their 20s who appeared to
have a gun, Sgt. Bob Ciszek said.
“It was a simulated gun,” he said. “We don’t know if they actually
had a gun or not.”
The victim handed over his wallet, which contained about $150,
Ciszek said. No one was hurt in the incident, he said.
