Dominguez deals no-no

Josh Dominguez pitched the first no-hitter of his young career,

striking out 16 Dodgers in six innings of an 8-3 victory for the

Diamondbacks in Costa Mesa National Little League Minor A play.

The 11-year-old struck out the side in four of the six innings and

added three hits and two runs scored.

The D-backs pounded nine hits including two by Tony Campo, a

double by Stephen Hildebrand and singles each from Marc DeFrenza,

Angel Bias, Shane Butler and Christian Aguilar.

Shane Butler caught the entire six innings for Dominguez, who

received the game ball signed by all of the D-backs’ players.

In Newport Beach Little League Majors play:

* The Dodgers beat both the Yankees and Angels last week to

maintain a two-game lead over the Cardinals with two games remaining

in the regular season.

Brad Hess and Doug Watt each had multiple hits and RBIs in the 8-2

win over the Yankees and a 6-2 triumph over the Angels.

Grant Johnson and Andrew Watt pitched well against the Yankees

while Kyle Hill and Ben Capaldi handled the Angels.

Hunter Adler and Matt Morris each turned in strong performances on

the mound against the Yankees and Angels, respectively.

In Newport Harbor Baseball Association Pinto (7-8-year-old) play:

* A strong hitting attack powered the Blue Jays against the A’s.

Jeff Kohlschmidt, Roger Mann, Remington Weiss, Christopher

DiNatale, Jacob Whemitt, Shaun Vetrovec, Liam Whelan and Rusty

Edwards all contributed to the offense.
