The Newport Harbor High track and field teams featured 12 athletes

who advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division II preliminaries

after their performances in the Sea View League finals Friday night

at Irvine. Because of computer problems at the meet, some times were

not available for Saturday’s edition. Here are the times and marks

not included in Saturday’s story of the Sea View League Finals.

Senior Amy Burlingham, who qualified for CIF in four events, won

the 200 meters in 26.78. Newport Harbor won the girls 1,600 relay in

4:05.79. Burlingham anchored that event, which also included

sophomore Kiley Hall, freshman Amy Klippert and senior Elda

Hernandez. That same relay team also qualified in the 400 relay,

finishing third (50.53).

Junior Jillianne Whitfield, who successfully defended her title in

the discus (124 feet, 9 inches), also finished second in the shot put

(34-3 3/4) to advance to the CIF Division II prelims Friday at Mt.

San Antonio College at 3:30 p.m. Sophomore Courtney Marshall also

advanced in the 3,200 (11:41.61).

The Newport Harbor girls squad finished third at the Sea View

League finals with 98 3/4 points, while Woodbridge won with 117.

Overall, the Sailors also finished third in league.
