Ninja’s congenital hip problem makes it difficult for him to climb

and jump.

“He has adapted to his handicap by walking slowly so not to fall,

and drinks with his head tilted to the side to prevent himself from

losing balance,” said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Newport

Beach-based Community Animal Network.

Ninja has challenges and difficulties but his caretakers agree

that his loving nature makes up for everything.

Volunteer Kristen Finnesson said Ninja loves to be held and he

needs a lot of attention.

“I just see him going to a home with a little girl that would

share his love and hold him all the time,” she said.

Many shelters don’t want to spend money on handicapped animals,

Pfaff-Martin said. The network cares for more than 200 kittens and

more are rescued daily, she said.
