Laguna hoopsters run record to 4-0
If this is a sign of things to come, then the future of the Laguna
Beach High boys’ basketball program is heading in the right
direction.
A team of incoming freshman this fall, many of whom have played
together for the past five or six years, have gotten the summer
league season off to a successful start.
Laguna ran its record to 4-0 by defeating Orange Lutheran in local
tournament action, 53-39.
Cheyne Martin led Laguna in the tournament title game with a
game-high 28 points.
Bobby Monroe led the team in rebounds with 10.
The tournament also consisted of high school teams from Mission
Viejo, Ocean View, Redlands, El Dorado, Loara, Ayala and Temescal
Canyon.
Laguna, whose roster also includes Brian Delino, Ian Butters,
Chris Hyden, Patrick Curran, Nathan Pickett, Brennan Healy, Ty
Fleming and EJ Gomez, takes on Woodbridge today in frosh/soph
tournament play.
