Blue Crushers squeeze by Golden Eagles
Matthew Steinhaus scored two goals, including his team’s final goal,
to lead the Blue Crushers past the Golden Eagles, 5-4, in AYSO Region
117 boys’ Under-10 Division playoff action.
Forward Ryan Hakes assisted four of the Blue Crushers’ goals.

Blue Ice 4, Sea Serpents 2
The Blue Ice prevailed in this tough playoff match that went
through two overtimes and was decided on penalty kicks during a
shootout.
Brandon White’s second quarter goal gave the Blue Ice a 1-0 lead,
but the Sea Serpents’ goal came when Sam Martin fed Michael Tomasek,
whose score knotted the match at 1-1 in the second period.
The score was still tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation play.
Kristian Burkhardt, Jonathan Thien and Stephen Clamp scored in the
shootout for Blue Ice and keeper Joe Mullin limited the Sea Serpents
to a single goal.
The Blue Ice defense was paced by Clamp, Kevin Leddy, Steele
Mason, Grant Torres and Ty Mason.
Tyler Hammock and Randee Harrison made several stops in goal for
Blue Ice and was backed by the defensive efforts of Leland Harrison,
Sean McCormick, Justin Rogers, Garrett Brown, Fisher Chavira, Spenser
Gramm, Micah Beaubien and Jeremy Chavira.
It was the final match of the season for the Sea Serpents. Tomasek
was named team MVP, McCormick was named the squad’s defensive MVP and
Justin Rogers led the team in scoring for the season.

Region 55
Under-12 Division
Ripcurl 3, Goal-d Rush 2
Devon Shinn’s goal in the first minute of sudden-death overtime
lifted Ripcurl to victory in semifinal action.
Gina Martinez and Christina Stout scored earlier goals for Ripcurl
and Amanda Fitzpatrick and Randa Addam each had an assist.
Kaycee Rogers, Rachel Osman and Addam shared goaltending duties
and Erika DeGrote, Chelsea Salisbury, Cassie Davis and Rogers
anchored the midfield for Ripcurl, which plays Saturday for the
Region 55 Under-12 championship.

Under-12 Division
Allie’s Angels 1, Code Red 0
Stephanie Hill’s goal decided this semifinal matchup that was
played in wet conditions following a hailstorm.
Tracy Frederick, Elliat Holloway, Lindsey McCloskey, Jennifer
Rojas, Arianna Strickland and Brandi Syfert anchored the Allie’s
Angels’ defense, which posted its fifth shutout of the season.
Allie’s Angels will take on Sour Grapes Saturday in a match that
will determine the winner of Region 55’s Under-12 Division.
The teams split two regular season meetings, each winning by a 2-1
score.
Sour Grapes 6, Bad Girl Blues 0
Sour Grapes pulled away from the Bad Girl Blues by scoring five,
second half goals.
Brittani Glendon led the charge with four goals and Melysa Siller
and Kelsey Kennedy each scored once.
Abby Kerfoot made a save of a penalty kick to preserve the
shutout.
Sour Grapes 3, Orange Crush 2
Brittani Glendon scored two, second half goal, and Natalie Rossa
scored in the first half, as the Sour Grapes held off the Orange
Crush.
Melody Sainz made a second half save in net to prevent the Orange
Crush from tying the match.
