Gregory M. Cloney, a 1982 graduate of Edison High School, was

recently promoted to chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy. While

serving in the ranks of petty officer first class, Cloney became a

candidate for promotion to chief petty officer by passing a written

exam. A selection committee, comprised of other high-ranking chief

petty officers and commissioned officers, then selected Cloney from

among other top candidates based upon his leadership and professional

abilities. The ranks of chief petty officers are comprised of top

sailors who are technical experts within their job rating ... Marine

Corps Pvt. Matthew P. Redman, a 2003 graduate of Marina High School,

recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at the Marine Corps

Recruit Depot in San Diego ... Coast Guard Seaman Sara D. Donnelly,

daughter of Jacqueline and William Donnelly of Huntington Beach,

recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center

in Cape May, N.J.
