Cerutti is MVP of PCL
Corona del Mar High senior Julien Cerutti has been named Most
Valuable Player of the Pacific Coast League, leading a group of eight
Sea Kings named all-league by the circuit’s coaches.
Cerutti, bound for UC Davis, was a dynamic midfielder for the PCL
champions (15-4-6, 7-1-2 in league), who won the PCL crown outright
this year after sharing the championship with Northwood last season.
CdM seniors Chris Ringstrom, Dominic Rubino and Jeritt Thayer,
along with junior Shane Collins, garnered first-team all-league
laurels.
Seniors Dan Whitaker and Dan Marin-Finn, as well as junior Grant
Almquist, are second-team honorees.
Ringstrom, a forward, scored 23 goals, while Rubino and Thayer
were versatile players, and Collins was a strong defender for Coach
Pat Callaghan’s CIF Division II semifinalist.
Cerutti, Ringstrom, Thayer, Collins and Whitaker earned all-league
honors last year, as well.
