Boston University student Shannon Duchene of Huntington Beach was
one of 80 students to pledge her life to teaching. Duchene is
majoring in elementary and special education. Her parents are Thomas
and Toni Duchene ... UC Santa Barbara honored several Huntington
Beach students for high academic achievement. The dean’s honors list
is reserved for students earning grade-point averages of at least
3.75, or 3.5 for engineering students. For the winter quarter list,

been named to the dean’s list for winter quarter at the Cal Poly San
Luis Obispo. She’s scheduled to graduate June 12 with a degree in
business administration with a concentration in management

Kyle Suryan signed a national letter of intent April 6 to play soccer
at the University of San Francisco. Suryan lives with his family in
Huntington Beach ... Coast Guard Seaman Amy N. Primrose recently
graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape
May, N. J. Primrose’s training included water safety and survival,
seamanship, firefighting and marksmanship. She is the daughter of
Terina M. Hayes of Huntington Beach and Tustin resident Denny F.
Primrose ... Navy Fireman Christopher Y. Sanders recently completed
U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes,
Ill. Sanders’ instruction included first aid, firefighting, water
safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. Sanders is a
2003 graduate of Golden West College. His uncle is Huntington Beach
resident Ken J. Buelow ... Navy Airman Recruit Brian A. Hansen, son
of Huntington Beach resident John M. Hansen, recently visited the
Jebel Ali, Dubai, while assigned to the U.S. aircraft carrier George
Washington. While in Dubai, members of Hansen’s unit were able to
enjoy shopping, golfing, sandboarding and sightseeing. The service
members were also able to participate in a sunset safari, go on camel
rides and sample gourmet foods ... Air Force Airman Dominique M.
Ceniseroz graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in
San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, Ceniseroz
learned rifle marksmanship, participated in field training exercises
and received special training in human relations. Ceniseroz is the
daughter of Rudolph and Lizette Komisza of Huntington Beach and a
2003 graduate of Edison High School.
