Hold on to your seats.

Not only did we get what seems like the first good south swell in

years this week, but we have another Surfrider benefit concert from 3

to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ocean Avenue Brewery.

This special event will help the Laguna chapter of Surfrider and

the Laguna Beach High School water-testing program.

This program offers a “hands-on” experience with Environmental

Protection Agency-approved testing methods, an introduction to the

local environmental issues and the opportunity to raise the level of

awareness in our community about water quality problems at our

braches.

The cost is $5 at the door with featured live music from local

Laguna artists. Raffle prizes will be given out as well. So get your

swerve on this Sunday and help support the Laguna Surfrider chapter

and the Laguna Beach High School water testing program.

It keeps getting better this Friday night from 6 to 8 p.m., when

Hobie in Dana Point will have a kickoff party at its store for the

ninth annual “Vintage longboard and menehune” contest, which will be

held at San Onofre state beach Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s festivities will include food and drink. Locals and

legends will be there, along with a surf movie, so bring the family

and enjoy a great night of surf culture.
