Here are some items the Planning Commission considered Monday.

TARGET STORE HOURS

The Planning Commission unanimously rejected a request from Target

Corp. to offer longer hours during the Christmas holiday season,

start sweeping the parking lot earlier and let employees of the

company’s district office park closer to the office during the day.

The commission decided not to allow the changes because the early

activity might disturb people in adjacent residences.

WHAT IT MEANS

Target will not open an hour earlier during the holidays or sweep

the parking lot earlier. It will observe its usual holiday opening

time of 7 a.m.

PAUL MITCHELL PARKING

Students at the Paul Mitchell hair styling school must park in the

nearby First Church of Christ Scientist parking lot rather than on

nearby residential streets, the commission decided. The church, at

2880 Mesa Verde Drive East, agreed to offer 90 parking spaces to the

school, which is in a shopping center near Harbor Boulevard and Adams

Avenue.

The shopping center parking lot is often full, and residents have

complained that students park in their neighborhoods. The commission

unanimously voted that the school must notify residents that it will

handle complaints and enforcement if students don’t use the church

lot.

WHAT IT MEANS

Students at the Paul Mitchell school on Adams Avenue will park at

the First Church of Christ Scientist on Mesa Verde Drive East.
