Summer socials are heating up
B.W. COOK
The social season used to cool off during the warm summer days on the
Orange Coast. That was the past. Today we have a year-round,
event-orientated culture. The charitable party has become the current
form of interaction for people of all ages, backgrounds and
interests. Recently in Newport Beach an Orangewood group -- Providing
Assistance, Love and Supportof young professional people supporting
the Orangewood Children’s Foundation gathered for a haute summer
fashion show and cocktail benefit at the trendy Tentation Ultra
Lounge.
The evening was orchestrated by the Newport Coast’s beautiful
young fashionista Laura Stearn. Stearn was the former designer
retailer with the Crystal Cove showroom known as Novecento. She
recently sold her business and launched a new fashion label called
Haute Threadz. Stearn’s designs were on the runway for the party,
which raised funds for Orangewood PALS. The fashion show, which was a
debut of the new line, also included Cirque du Soleil performances as
well as a collection of fashions from other European designers.
The cocktail party was hosted by X-Rated and sushi was provided by
Ten. Guests were able to shop right off of the runway, with designer
Stearn donating 10% of the proceeds to Orangewood PALS. To top it
off, one of Stearn’s local private clients Tami Kahn, matched her
donation to PALS.
PALS is an organization that raises funds to help children
sheltered at the Orangewood Children’s Home. For more information on
PALS please contact Sara Bazant at (714) 619-0200 or log onto
