Police seek man who robbed a local bank
Newport Beach police are searching for a man who robbed a Newport Beach bank Monday afternoon.
At 2:17 p.m. the man entered the Union Bank at 1666 San Miguel Drive and handed a note to the teller demanding money.
The robber exited through the front of the bank with approximately $3,500 in cash and the note used in the robbery, Sgt. Evan Sailor said.
The robber has been described as a Latino man, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10, and heavy set with a small goatee, police said. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue buttoned shirt, and blue jeans, Sailor said.
Police have asked anyone with information regarding the robber’s name or whereabouts to call (800) 550-NBPD or the FBI at (714) 542-8825. The messages can be left anonymously.
