Race for the Cure seeks volunteers to help at event

The 2007 Komen Orange County Race for the Cure, scheduled for Sept. 23, is looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of duties the day of the race.

Breast cancer survivors and activists will be part of the more than 35,000 participants the group is expecting to attend the 16th annual event being held at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

Parking captains who will direct traffic into area parking lots, and individuals who can help set up and clean up — especially those who can lift at least 20 pounds — are high on the list of volunteer slots needing to be filled.
