UCI’s Henderson struggles but Americans close gap
NAKHONNAYAK, Thailand — UC Irvine women’s golfer Selaneé Henderson is in 45th place and she has helped the U.S. team to sixth place after two rounds of the World University Games at Watermill Golf and Gardens.
Henderson, the Big West Conference Player of the Year as a junior last spring, shot 19-over-par 91 Wednesday. Her two-round total is 174, 30 over par.
Team USA was led by Stanford’s Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana, who shot one-under 71 Wednesday. Her 36-hole total is 154 and she is tied for eighth.
Danielle McVeigh of Ireland (161) is the individual leader.
Great Britain and Ireland share the team lead (302).
The third round is scheduled today.
