Junior Team Tennis registration underway
Laguna Beach Breakers Junior Team Tennis currently taking registration for coed players.
Registration is available for the 12-and-Under Advanced, Intermediate and Novice divisions, the 14-and-Under, Advanced and Intermediate divisions, and Boys 18-and-Under division.

Fall tennis classes begin in September
All Court Tennis will offer fall classes and workouts beginning Sept. 10. Classes include Pee Wee, Junior and Teen group lessons, tournament training, Junior Team Tennis and cardio tennis.

Lopez takes first at series event men’s race
Professional mountain biker Brian Lopes of Laguna Beach, ranked the No. 1 in the world and three-time world and nine-time national champion, won the second Jeep King of the Mountain series event last weekend at The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.
With the victory, Lopes moved into a tie for first-place in the overall season standings and moved closer to securing another world championship.
The race from San Luis Obispo will air on CBS Sports on Sept. 23

Laguna grads tie for ninth at Brooklyn Open
Laguna Beach High grads Dain Blanton (Class of 1990) and Rachel Wacholder (Class of 1993), each teamed with their playing partners to finish in a ninth-place tie at the Assn. of Volleyball Professionals Brooklyn Open last weekend.
Blanton and Paul Baxter, seeded 19th in the men’s competition, lost their opening match in winner’s bracket play to No. 14 Ryan Mariano/Ed Ratledge, 21-13, 21-11. The pair, though, bounced back to win three straight matches in contenders’-bracket play. Wacholder and Tyra Turner, the No. 3 seed in the women’s tournament, won their first two matches over No. 30 Cindie Valeriano/Aleksandra Wolak (21-15, 21-14) and No. 19 Chara Harris/Brooke Langston (21-14, 21-8).
