Kohl’s to take Mervyn’s building once it closes
Kohl’s Department Stores has announced that it will take over the Mervyn’s store at 9811 Adams St.
The Mervyn’s location, currently in a bankruptcy sale, expects to close by Tuesday, store management said — or sooner if remaining stock is depleted faster that anticipated.
The acquisition was part of an auction bid with clothier Forever 21 Inc. in which the two companies took over 46 Mervyn’s locations, including three in Orange County.
The 46 locations went for $6.25 million; Kohl’s will take over 31 locations, while Forever 21 will take the remaining 15.
