HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sophomore guard Kayla Marolt scored a season-high 24 points Friday, helping the Sea Kings improve to 10-0 on the season and also close in on the Liberty Christian Tournament championship.

Junior Katie Bergsma finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Sea Kings.

Saylor Schroff sparked a second-quarter CdM run with five assists.

CdM plays against Woodland Christian in a final round-robin game today at 11 a.m.

DOWNEY — Lightning senior Tierney Danner scored a game-high 19 points to go over 1,000 points for her career at Sage Hill in a consolation game of the Calvary Chapel Downey Tournament Friday.

Danner also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lightning (4-3), while Morgan Hembarsky had 16 points. Stephanie Garrison contributed six points and 10 rebounds.

The Lightning play at Newport Harbor in a nonleage game Monday at 7 p.m.

PLACENTIA — Senior Sean Donovan had 23 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead the Sea Kings in the Irvine World News Classic consolation game at El Dorado High.

Steven Gallian added 14 points and 11 rebounds for CdM (3-4), which finishes up the tournament today at 11:30 a.m. against Woodbridge at Concordia University.

COSTA MESA — George Olivas scored three goals for the Eagles in their nonleague game Friday at Estancia.

Jose Reyes scored two goals and added an assist for Estancia (8-1-2).

He got things started for the Eagles scoring in the 10th minute off an assist from Rony Argueta.

In the 48th minute, Argueta found the back for the net, finishing off a pass from Radames Gutierrez.

Olivas scored the Eagles’ next three goals. In the 55th minute, Willy Rodriguez assisted Olivas’ goal. Then in the 61st minute, Olivas scored on an assist from Jesus Garcia.

Olivas completed the hat trick in the 70th minute with an assist from Reyes.

Sage Hill 2, University 2

NEWPORT COAST — Colton Gyulay scored with six minutes left to help the Lightning force a tie in the nonleague game Friday at Sage Hill.

University went up, 1-0, with one minute left in the first half. But Sage Hill tied it up midway through the second half on a goal from Lion Winteumute. The Trojans went back up, 2-1, with 10 minutes left, as they scored on an own goal.

Sage Hill keepers Jake Blitzer and Craig Jackson combined for nine saves.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — The Lightning dropped to 2-4-1 after the nonleague loss Friday.
