RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Junior Kate Klippert scored five goals and recorded five steals to lead the Sailors to the nonleague win at the Girls’ Water Polo Extravaganza at Santa Margarita High Saturday.
Senior Nicolina McCall, bound for USC, had three goals, four steals and two assists for the Sailors (2-2), ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section Division I preseason coaches’ poll. Katie Jackson, who had one goal and an assist, shared the team lead in steals with Klippert with five.
Newport Harbor goalie Krissy Burger finished with seven saves.
Montebello was ranked No. 2 in CIF Division II.
The Sailors will compete in the Holiday Cup Dec. 30-31.

Senior Heather Van Hiel, bound for UCLA, added three goals and two assists for the Sea Kings, ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division I preseason coaches’ poll. Senior goalies Kate Baldoni and Amy Youngman had six and five saves, respectively, for CdM, which will compete in the Holiday Cup Dec. 30-31.

IRVINE — Junior forward Wes Shaw hit the game-winner with three seconds left, giving him 21 points and lifting the Sailors to a ninth-place finish at the Irvine World News Tournament Saturday.
Cameron Holmes passed the ball to Shaw, who went on to nail a jumper.
Chris Anderson finished with 13 points and earned all-tournament honors for Newport Harbor (3-6), which went 2-2 during the tournament.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Sophomore Kassie Stratton scored 22 second-half points to rally the Eagles and match her season high of 26 points Saturday as the Eagles claimed second place in the round-robin Liberty Christian Tournament at Liberty Christian High.
Stratton, facing a box-and-one defense, had four points at halftime, when the Eagles (9-3) trailed, 24-21. Estancia entered the fourth quarter down, 32-29, but Stratton’s offense and the defensive work of junior Erika Soto helped the Eagles prevail.
Stratton and Soto, who had eight points, both made the all-tournament team.
Estancia plays host to Santa Ana Valley Monday at 7 p.m.
