Program serves junior firefighters
Sign-ups are open for Newport Beach’s junior firefighter camp, a weeklong program that shows kids the basics of the business and teaches first aid.
In three camps, the first starting Monday and the other two starting Aug. 17 and 24, kids will have three hours of hands-on fun with firefighters.
From 9 a.m. to noon, kids 9 to 13 will learn about fire safety, basic first aid and firefighting tools and skills.
The camp costs $100 to join. Next week’s camp is at Newport Coast Elementary, with the last two at Mariners Park in Newport Beach.
To enroll your child, call Jennifer Schulz at (949) 644-3110 or visit www.city.newport-beach.ca.us and go to Online Services and Recreation Registration.
