IRVINE — Freshman guard Kent Kawaguchi finished with 17 points and made three three-pointers as the Lightning placed third at the Tarbut V’Torah 11th annual Gelman Classic on Thursday night.
Frank Shapiro, who had 12 points, was named to the all-tournament team for Sage Hill (3-2).
Mark Loper contributed 14 points for the Lightning, who will play host to Eastside Christian School Monday at 7 p.m.

ANAHEIM — Junior forward Gaby Rapp scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Sea Kings’ second pool-play game at the Fairmont Prep Tournament Thursday.
Katie Bergsma contributed eight points and Dani Gallardo had seven points and five steals for CdM.
The Sea Kings (5-1) resume tournament play today against Buena Park at 7:30 p.m.

SAN DIEGO — The Sea Kings missed out on five scoring chances in their first pool-play match at the Butch Lee Memorial Classic at Westview High Thursday.
CdM (1-1-1) plays host to Westview today in a pool-play match set for 5 p.m.
The Sea Kings opened the season ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division II.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Victoria Kent had two goals and sophomore goalkeeper Alex Musselman contributed 11 saves for the host Sea Kings in the nonleague game Wednesday.
Margot Money, Maddie Schwartz and Cassidy Papa added goals for CdM (1-2). Money and Papa had two steals apiece.
The Sea Kings, who reached last year’s CIF Southern Section Division I final, opened the season ranked No. 7 in the coaches’ poll.
