H.B. unveils crime website
Huntington Beach crime reports are now available for everyone online 24 hours a day with the police department’s new online crime alerting and mapping system.
The new system, called Crime Reports, allows citizens to read incident reports, see where crimes happened on a map and receive automated alerts, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
The system is updated hourly and includes incident type, date, location, event identification or case number and a brief description. The system can also tell residents the distance the crime was from their houses and sort reports by crime, date or distance.
Residents can sign up for free automated alerts to see when a crime happens near their home, or any address, on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
The system also has a feature to analyze the crime reports and show the number of different types of crimes that occur, their percentages of total crime and trends.
The new system will save the police department time and money by replacing its old system of printing out the crime reports for a log available to the public at the department during business hours only.
To access Huntington crime reports, go to crimereports.com or the police department’s website at www.hbpd.org.
