Designer home store opens in town
Vertigo Home, just opened by Martin Ulrich and Chris Oswalt, is offering a selection of “luxuries” for home or gift list within a vintage 1920s bungalow at 1854 S. Coast Hwy., next to Sweetwater Car Wash.
The shop features imported fabrics starting at $12 a yard, Danish design home accessories and unusual items such as the Boogie Woogie salt/pepper shaker, Rocking Cognac Orbs, and black rubber vases.
They sell fabric off the bolt for the do-it-yourselfer, and also provide full service reupholstery from design through delivery.
Many of the items in stock have received the prestigious Red Dot international design award. Of special note are the George Nelson mid-century Sunburst clock, Alexander Gerard hand-painted dolls from the Vitra Design Museum and the Eames house bird carved of solid alder.
Vertigo Home is the realization of the owners’ combined passions for travel, art and design. To preview the shop, visit www.vertigohome.us, which includes Ulrich’s blog to update showings of new items and store events.
