Corona del Mar Today: New juice bar opening on PCH
A new juice bar could be opening at 2744 East Coast Highway in a space formerly occupied by a dry-cleaning business.
Pur Juice Bar has signs in the window, announcing the business is coming soon.
According to signs in the window, and in front of the business, the city’s zoning administrator will hold a public hearing for a use permit for the building on Nov. 13. Online city records indicate that the business applied for the use permit on Oct. 2. Online city records do not indicate that a business license has been issued.

District is looking for outstanding employees
The Newport-Mesa Unified School District’s twice-a-year program to honor excellence is now accepting nominations for employee Super-Star awards.
Teachers, officer workers, custodians, principals, aides, lunch staff — all have a chance to be recognized at a future board meeting, receive a pin, certificate and an engraved star, according to a district flier. A committee will select 20 to 25 nominees, twice a year, to be recognized.
Nomination forms can be found online, and all nominations must be received by Dec. 5.

Library to host free Ebola lecture
Is Orange County prepared to handle an Ebola case?
On Nov. 13, Dr. Andrew Noymer, an associate professor at UC Irvine’s Program of Public Health, will present a free lecture on the Ebola virus at the Central Library, according to an event announcement.
“Ebola: What You Should Know” will cover “the outbreak of the disease in West Africa, how it is spread, what is being done to stop the epidemic and the economic impact of Ebola on West Africa and the world,” the announcement said.
Noymer is an associate professor in the Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention, part of UCI’s Program in Public Health, and his work focuses on infectious disease from historical, epidemiological, demographic, and sociological perspectives.
UC Irvine Health and the Newport Beach Library are sponsoring the lecture. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Friends Room of the library at 1000 Avocado Ave. The event is free, and seating will be first-come, first-served.

Woman booked on suspicion of strong-arm robbery
Newport Beach police arrested a 38-year-old Buena Park woman at 5:28 p.m. Monday in the 100 block of Newport Center Drive on suspicion of strong-arm robbery, according to a report.
The woman also was booked on suspicion of commercial burglary with no forced entry, forging a name on an access car, theft by use of an access card, forging a drivers license to commit a crime and obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest. Her bail was $50,000.
According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella, the woman entered a retail store and used a victim’s charge account to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. When store security confronted her, she “became combative and a struggle ensued as she attempted to flee with the items.”
A loss-prevention officer sustained minor injuries in the struggle, Manzella said.
