Makena Tomlinson scored 12 points to pace the Corona del Mar High School girls’ basketball team in its 37-34 win over Tempe (Ariz.) Corona del Sol in the Nike Tournament of Champions, held Dec. 18 to 22 in Phoenix.

Dorothy Schwenck added 11 points for CdM (3-7), while Myla Zapanta and Haley Esquino each scored seven points.

Fountain Valley 58, Upland 48: Audrey Tengan scored 25 points, cashing in on 12 of her 13 free throws, to lead the Barons on Tuesday in a nonleague game at home.

Margaret Tengan added 18 points, including a trio of three-pointers, for Fountain Valley (9-3).

Laguna Beach 35, Mission Viejo 14: The host Breakers improved to 14-3 overall with Tuesday’s nonleague win.

Ocean View 52, Loara 46: The Seahawks earned a nonleague home victory on Tuesday to move their record to 8-3 overall.

Ocean View has won five of its last six games.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 45, South Gate 30: Dylan Rogers scored 10 points to lead a well-balanced Sea Kings effort Tuesday at the San Pedro Shootout.

Sanjay Tewari scored eight points for CdM (11-1).

Edison 93, Palmdale 57: Trey Wilborn had a team-high 24 points to lead the Chargers (9-3) on Tuesday in the Monrovia Tournament.

Estancia 40, Bolsa Grande 32: Lewis Tate scored 16 points for the Eagles in Tuesday’s nonleague road game.

Jaedon Hose-Shea scored eight points for Estancia (9-4).

St. Margaret’s 62, Huntington Beach 47: The Oilers fell to 2-10 after losing Tuesday’s Orange County North-South Challenge game at Tesoro High School.

San Juan Hills 66, Laguna Beach 37: Aidan Del Col had a team-high 16 points for the Breakers on Tuesday in an Orange County North-South Challenge game at Tesoro High School.

Jackson Sirianni added 13 points for Laguna Beach (7-5).

Trabuco Hills 54, Newport Harbor 44: Jake Read led the Sailors with 18 points in Tuesday’s Orange County North-South Challenge game at Tesoro High School.

Ian Robertson added 10 points for Newport Harbor (8-5).

Pacifica Christian Orange County 55, Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian 40: The Tritons won their second straight game at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.

Pacifica Christian improved to 5-6.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 3, Lakewood Mayfair 0: Ari Kanazawa had two goals and an assist to lead the host Sea Kings in their nonleague win on Tuesday.

Brock Paz scored a goal, and Ali Abdel Mooti added an assist for CdM (5-1). Jack Cross and Matt Wood made three saves apiece to preserve the clean sheet.

Costa Mesa 1, Dana Hills 1: Nathan Rocha scored a goal for the Mustangs (3-6-4) on Tuesday in a Laguna Hills Hawks Invitational match at Lake Forest Sports Park.

Mission Viejo 1, Huntington Beach 0: The Diablos beat the Oilers (7-2-2) Tuesday at Lake Forest Sports Park to advance out of bracket play in the Laguna Hills Hawks Invitational.

Edison 1, Santa Margarita 1: Wyatt Bellinger scored the goal for the Chargers (3-4-3) in a Laguna Hills Hawks Invitational game at Lake Forest Sports Park on Tuesday.

Mission Viejo 1, Edison 0: The Chargers were kept off the scoreboard in the semifinals of the Laguna Hills Hawks Invitational Tuesday at Lake Forest Sports Park.

Mission Viejo advanced to the championship match to take on Bellflower St. John Bosco, which beat Laguna Hills 1-0 in the other semifinal.

Fountain Valley 0, San Juan Hills 0: Goalkeeper Austin Quach recorded the shutout for the Barons (2-3-3) on Tuesday in the Laguna Hills Hawks Invitational at Trabuco Hills High School.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Beckman 5, Costa Mesa 3: Bryanna Elias scored a pair of goals for visiting Costa Mesa on Tuesday in a nonleague match. Brianna Calderon drew an assist on one of the goals.

The Mustangs (2-9-2) also benefited from an own goal after Jewel Rubright’s shot was deflected into the net.

Edison 3, Rosary 0: Goalkeeper Alyssa Plotkin helped the Chargers defense log its seventh shutout of the season in Tuesday night’s nonleague match at Edison High School.

Maddie Klasey, Hailey Clingan, Kate Hass and Riley Crooks made up the back line for Edison, while Grace Ingalls, Nicole Scott and Rachel Valenzuela each scored goals in Tuesday’s match.

Edison (6-3-1) begins play at the Excalibur Tournament of Champions on Monday.

Newport Harbor 3, Foothill 0: The Sailors scored three goals in the second half to earn a nonleague win on Tuesday at home.

Brielle Benedict and Sam Wallis had a goal and an assist apiece for Newport Harbor (3-5-3). Anto Russo also scored a goal.

Pacifica Christian Orange County 1, Whittier Christian 0: Leila Bahnsen scored her ninth goal of the season for the host Tritons on Tuesday in a nonleague match.

Goalkeeper Nat Ferdi recorded the shutout for Pacifica Christian (9-3).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Laguna Beach 12, Foothill 8: Charlotte Riches scored five goals for the Breakers in Tuesday’s nonleague road match.

Ava Houlahan and Ava Knepper each added three goals for Laguna Beach (8-0), the top-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division 1. Foothill is ranked No. 7 in Division 1.
