Vanguard men’s soccer shuts out Biola

Kelvin Fares converted a Hector Garcia assist in the 60th minute and Juan Arellano tacked on with a goal in teh 87th minute as the host Lions won Wednesday to advance to the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament.

The No. 3-seeded Lions (11-6-1) will play at No. 2-seeded Concordia on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Lions posted a 24-8 advantage in shots, while freshman goalkeeper Brandon Gomez made four saves to record his fourth shutout of the season.

Biola, the No. 6 seed, fell to 7-6-4.
