Breakdown: Newport Harbor kicks (0-5) off Sunset League play against Los Alamitos (2-3) … Sailors are trying to avoid losing their first six games of the season for the first time since 1981 … Griffins, who placed second in league last year, have faced a challenging nonleague schedule, losing to JSerra, Long Beach Poly and Tesoro … Newport Harbor, the third-place team in league a year ago, has dropped its past three games to the Griffins … Los Alamitos is coming off a 48-44 loss to Tesoro in the waning seconds at Veterans Stadium last week … Sailors lost to Los Angeles Cathedral 48-10 last week … Griffins feature two college-bound linebackers in Johnson, who is committed to Arizona, and Miskela, who has an offer from BYU.
