Pedestrian injured when hit by car in Costa Mesa
A man in his 50s was injured when he was hit by a car while crossing a street Saturday night in Costa Mesa, according to authorities.
The man was crossing West Wilson Street in the 500 block around 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle heading east struck him, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Jim Brown said.
The man was not in a crosswalk at the time, according to police.
The impact left the man with a serious head injury, and paramedics took him to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was initially in critical condition, police said.
By Monday morning, however, the man had been released from the hospital, Brown said.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
The driver has not been arrested or cited, police said.
