VU’s Norman named NAIA Division I Player of the Week

Vanguard University senior Melissa Norman has been named NAIA Division I Player of the Week in women’s basketball.

The 6-foot-2 post player averaged 17 points and 17 rebounds in Golden State Athletic Conference wins over Biola and Arizona Christian last week.

She tied her season high with 19 boards against Biola on Jan. 19, while adding three blocked shots.

At Arizona Christian on Saturday, she posted a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the year which ranks her second in the country.

Norman leads the NAIA in rebounds per game (11.2) and is second in offensive boards per contest (4.5).

After Tuesday’s home win over No. 2-ranked Westmont, the No. 8-ranked Lions are 14-3 record, 6-1 in the GSAC.
