Police caught an armed parolee after a high-speed chase in Glendale early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
At around 1:15 a.m., police pulled over the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Palmdale resident Ricky Anthony Lopez, who was reportedly stopped at a red light on the wrong side of the road on Mountain Street near the Glendale (2) Freeway, said Glendale Police Sgt. Robert William.

When officers approached the car, saw an open alcoholic beverage inside and asked him to step out, the driver took off in the vehicle, leading officers on a high-speed chase.
During the pursuit, he reportedly traveled faster than 60 mph before losing control of the car and crashing into a parked vehicle, William said.
He still tried to drive off, but police stopped him by using a patrol car to intentionally collide into his car.
In his pocket, officers found a loaded gun magazine, and a matching gun several feet away from his car. Police also found a high-capacity magazine in his car.
Lopez, who was on parole for assault with a firearm, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
