Steve Nash becomes “The Bourne Laker”
Immediately after landing in Los Angeles, the spotlight followed Steve Nash.
TMZ approached him moments after he exited the plane. Nash greeted a large media contingent Wednesday in his introductory news conference as a Laker. And he’s continuing to make parodies spoofing various super hero and action movies.
The latest is titled “The Bourne Laker,” which features unnamed people grilling him on his background. I’m still awaiting confirmation if the interrogators included Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
It’s safe to presume more videos will pop up as frequently as Nash hands out assists. But don’t suddenly presume he will find the lure of the Hollywood scene too distracting.
No doubt, Nash’s news conference proved entertaining. He offered plenty of detail on why he chose to become a Laker. Nash spoke in Spanish several times. He showed tremendous enthusiasm over joining the purple and gold. But Nash did so with a demeanor that showcased he’s hardly consumed with the extra attention.
“I enjoy playing basketball. All the other stuff I do is secondary to basketball,” Nash said. “I don’t feel peaceful unless I come in early to practice, get my shots up, lift weights, have a good session and get ready to play the games. I could care less how much or how little attention the team gets. I’m focused on trying to be ready to play.”
Then, after that, Nash will make some movies that will leave us all entertained.
