CLIPPERS AT SACRAMENTO

When: 7 p.m. Wednesday

Where: Sleep Train Arena.

On the air: TV: Prime; Radio: 980, 1330.

Records: Clippers 0-0; Kings 0-0.

Record vs. Kings (2014-15): 3-1.

Update: Lance Stephenson apparently will start the season at small forward for the Clippers, meaning that Paul Pierce will come off the bench for only the 11th time in 1,251 NBA regular-season games. “It’s definitely a different mindset,” Pierce said. “Mentally, you’ve just got to stay with it. You’ve just got to focus in on what’s going on, who your matchups are.” Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said he considers the Kings playoff contenders after the acquisitions of Rajon Rondo, Marco Belinelli and draft pick Willie Cauley-Stein to supplement a core of DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay. Gay could sit out the opener, though, after his wife recently gave birth.
