Clayton Kershaw strikes out nine in five innings of rehab start
That other rehab start Clayton Kershaw didn’t want to make is over.
Kershaw started for double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday, and if he gave up a few more hits than he might have liked, he still appeared pretty dominant.
Kershaw went five innings, striking out nine Tennessee Smokies. He gave up six hits, including three doubles, and two walks in 86 pitches. He surrendered two runs, one earned.
That’s 30 more pitches than he threw in his first rehab start since going on the disabled list with a sore upper back muscle following his start in the season opener in Australia.
His next start is expected to be with the Dodgers. He would be on schedule for a Monday start at Washington.
Kershaw left the game Wednesday with the score tied, 2-2, against the Cubs’ double-A team.
