Dodgers agree to trade Dee Gordon and Dan Haren to Marlins

REPORTING FROM SAN DIEGO —  As the Dodgers neared a deal to acquire shortstop Jimmy Rollins from the Philadelphia Phillies, they traded All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon and starting pitcher Dan Haren to the Miami Marlins in exchange for four players.

The Dodgers will receive pitching prospect Andrew Heaney, reliever Chris Hatcher, utilityman Enrique Hernandez, and minor league catcher Austin Barnes, according to multiple reports.

Gordon, 26, had a breakout season this year in which he led the major leagues with 64 steals and 12 triples. However, he walked only four times in 57 games after the All-Star break and his on-base percentage over that period was only .300.

Haren, 34, was slated to be the Dodgers’ No. 4 starter. He is under contract for $10 million next season, but has said he would retire if traded to a team other than the Angels.

Heaney, a 23-year-old left-hander, was considered one of the top pitching prospects in baseball heading into the 2014 season. He pitched in seven major league games this year, including five starts. He was 0-3 with a 5.83 earned-run average.

Heaney also pitched in 24 games between double A and triple A and was 9-6 with a 3.28 ERA.
