With a stolen base on Saturday night, Joc Pederson, one of the Dodgers’ top prospects, made minor league history.

Pederson, an outfielder for Triple-A Albuquerque, became the first player in 80 years to steal 30 bases and hit 30 home runs in the Pacific Coast League with his steal in the sixth inning at Colorado Springs.

Only four players in the PCL have had a 30-30 season, with the last by Frank Demaree in 1934. Demaree died in 1958, 34 years before Pederson was born.

The only other Dodger minor leaguer to have a 30-30 season is Chin-Feng Chen, who hit 31 home runs and stole 31 bases for Class-A San Bernardino in 1999.

Pederson is hitting .301 in 114 games with the Isotopes this season. He leads the PCL in home runs this season with 32, and on steals, he’s tied for sixth with 30.

The 22-year old outfielder will likely be called up to the big league club when rosters get expanded in September, although manager Don Mattingly said on Saturday that he doesn’t’ expect any minor leaguers to earn any serious playing time.
