Dodgers’ Rich Hill (12-5, 2.12 ERA) vs. Nationals’ Max Scherzer (20-7, 2.96 ERA)

Scherzer will be pitching on an extra day of rest. This will be his 12th postseason start, but he has never started in the fifth or seventh game of a series. This will be Hill’s second postseason start, and he will be pitching on three days rest — two less than Scherzer — but he has mostly dominated the opposition for the last year when healthy. He says he is healthy.

Each team’s starter gave up four runs during their starts this series. But Scherzer managed to survive six innings and Hill was pulled without finishing the fifth inning. Scherzer was asked after Tuesday’s series-tying Game 4 victory by the Dodgers about his mind-set going into the fifth and final game.
