Baseball: Burroughs, Crescenta Valley finish as co-Pacific League champions
Burbank Burroughs and Crescenta Valley each came through with rallies on Friday night to pull out victories and end up co-Pacific League champions.
Burroughs came charging back against rival Burbank, overcoming a 6-2 deficit to defeat the Bulldogs, 7-6. Justin Palafox, a junior shortstop, contributed a pair of two-run singles. Shaine Leonard threw three innings of shutout relief.
Crescenta Valley defeated Arcadia, 5-4, with Ryan Lynch getting a two-run single in the sixth inning.
South Hills 8, Claremont 0: Ryan Mauch, out since injuring his knee in football, threw two shutout innings for South Hills (21-7, 14-1), the Palomares League champion. Brandon Dieter picked up his fifth consecutive win.
Temescal Canyon 7, Paloma Valley 6: Christian Bruno hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Tyler Hardman drove in the winning run in the eighth. Hardman went three for three in the Sunbelt League game. Kevin Moscoso hit two home runs for Paloma Valley.
Duarte 2, Baldwin Park 1: Francisco Ruiz struck out eight for Baldwin Park.
Norco 4, Corona Santiago 3: Joshua Pimentel had two hits and three RBIs.
Ganesha 4, Garey 2: Ganesha won the Miramonte League title, its first since 1963.
