Basketball: West Torrance is site for two-day tournament
West Torrance High is the site for a two-day boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament on Saturday and Monday, the Hoops 4 the Cure Classic.
Among the teams playing is Balboa City School, led by UCLA-bound Jaylen Hands.
Saturday’s schedule: Oakland Emery vs. Executive Prep, 12:30 p.m.; L.A. Salesian vs. Middle College, 2 p.m.; Middle College vs. JSerra, 3:30 p.m. (girls); Price vs. Culver City, 5 p.m. (girls); Lynwood vs. Fairfax (girls), 6:30 p.m. (girls); Balboa City vs. St. Bernard, 8 p.m.
Monday’s schedule: Crossroads vs. Santa Monica (girls), 9 a.m.; Venice vs. Birmingham (girls), 10:30 a.m.; Middle College vs. South Gate, noon; Orangewood vs. Balboa City, 1:30 p.m.; Notre Dame Academy vs. West Torrance, 3 p.m. (girls); Bakersfield Foothill vs. San Pedro (girls), 4:30 p.m.; Lawndale vs. St. Monica, 6 p.m. (girls); Hamilton vs. El Rancho, 7:30 p.m.
