Boys’ basketball: A huge week ahead for El Camino Real
After this week, Woodland Hills El Camino Real (12-4) should know where it stands. The Conquistadores are scheduled to play four games in six days, and none will be easy.
First up is a Monday game against Chino Hills at 8:30 p.m. at La Salle. It offers the intriguing individual matchup of El Camino Real’s Santa Clara-bound Evan Wardlow guarding UCLA commit Lonzo Ball.
On Wednesday, El Camino Real faces West Valley League rival Taft at home. On Friday, the Conquistadores take on dangerous Granada Hills at home. And on Saturday, they face Loyola in the featured last game of the Fairfax State Preview Classic at Fairfax.
First-year Coach Joe Wyatt has been trying to prepare his team for the big games ahead and a likely City Section championshp match against Westchester, so this week will be a trial run.
Another big game is set for Friday in the Western League, where Fairfax will visit Westchester in the first game of their annual league duels.
In girls’ basketball, Windward plays at Long Beach Poly on Saturday.
