Boys’ basketball: Bennie Boatwright comes through with 43 points
USC-bound Bennie Boatwright of Village Christian scored 43 points on Saturday night in his team’s 91-87 victory over Quartz Hill.
Kahlil Simplis added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Village Christian hosts Maranatha on Tuesday in an Olympic League rematch.
Kaden Rasheed scored 29 points in Santa Margarita’s 76-50 win over Firebaugh.
Vance Jackson had 21 points and Rodney Henderson 17 in St. John Bosco’s 62-53 win over San Bernardino.
Etiwanda defeated Gahr, 63-62.
Damien defeated Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 63-49. Jeremy Hemsley scored 27 points. Gligorije Rakocevic had 27 points and 17 rebounds for Cantwell-Sacred Heart.
Cathedral was beaten by Chicago Morgan Park, 68-59. Marcus LoVett Jr., a former Burbank Providence player, returned to the Southland to score 33 points.
Servite defeated Brea, 55-45. Trevor Treinen had 16 points.
