Boys’ basketball: Gary McKnight closing in on 1,000th coaching victory
Santa Ana Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight could make more history on Friday night if his team is able to win its semifinal game of the Corona del Mar basketball tournament.
A victory would give McKnight his 1,000th career coaching win. No other high school coach in California has reached the 1,000 level.
Mater Dei plans a special presentation to McKnight on Jan. 9 for the Monarchs’ home game against JSerra.
