Boys’ basketball: LiAngelo Ball scores 40 points to lead unbeaten Chino Hills
David Singleton three with 2.7 seconds left wins it over Damien
For the 15th time this season, Chino Hills (29-0) has exceeded 100 points. LiAngelo Ball scored 40 points to help the Huskies defeat Inglewood, 112-78, in a Southern Section Open Division quarterfinal playoff game on Tuesday night.
Chino Hills will be the home team on Friday night in a semifinal game against Santa Ana Mater Dei, which defeated Corona Centennial, 61-46. Justice Sueing had 14 points for Mater Dei.
David Singleton made a three-pointer with 2.7 seconds left in overtime to give Bishop Montgomery a 58-56 win over Damien. Singleton finished with 27 points. Bryce Peters, who had 18 points, gave Damien a 56-55 lead with 14 seconds left in overtime and also sent the game into overtime with a basket with eight seconds left.
Bishop Montgomery will be on the road on Friday facing Sierra Canyon, a 74-70 win over Redondo. Cody Riley scored 21 points.
In 1AA, Long Beach Poly defeated Millikan, 74-54, behind 31 points from Zafir Williams.
In 1A, top-seeded Santa Monica defeated Highland, 73-51. Jonah Mathews scored 18 points and Chailen August had 15. Santa Monica will face Burroughs, a 68-56 winner over Vista Murrieta. Tristen Hull scored 17 points.
In 2AA, Ayala defeated Perris, 89-60, and will face Loyola in the semifinals. Henry Welsh scored 21 points in Loyola’s 76-58 win over Burbank.
In 2A, Hart defeated Cerritos, 64-49. Chad Donohoe had 15 points.
In 3AA, Oak Park defeated Cathedral, 69-66. Riley Battin scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds. Calabasas defeated San Marcos, 60-40. Ryan Murphy scored 20 points.
In 3A, Rancho Mirage (30-0) defeated Ocean View, 90-62. Charles Neal had 26 points and Daryn Evans 21. Diamond Ranch defeated Tahquitz, 66-58. Roman Silva scored 25 points and had 16 rebounds. Chaminade defeated Gabrielino, 63-62.
In 4AA, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Mission Prep, 67-57. Chibueze Jacobs scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds. Harvard-Westlake defeated Laguna Beach, 72-57. Wolfgang Novogratz had 20 points. Gardena Serra defeated JSerra, 84-76. Kobe Smith had 17 points.
In 4A, La Salle defeated Morningside, 67-52. Viewpoint pulled out a 61-59 overtime win over Valley Christian. Sayo Denloye had 17 points. Randy White had three threes in the final nine minutes. Campbell Hall defeated Heritage Christian, 67-61. Jordan Cohen had 30 points.
In an Open Division consolation game, Crespi defeated Orange Lutheran, 80-72. De’Anthony Melton scored 25 points. Chris Williams had 21 points for Orange Lutheran. Alemany defeated Santa Margarita, 72-69. Shacquille Dawkins scored 26 points.
