Basketball: Mater Dei, Loyola, Etiwanda top 1AA poll

The CIF Southern Section has come out with its first coaches’ poll in boys’ basketball, and Mater Dei, Loyola and Etiwanda are the top three teams in 1AA.

There’s also a group of teams listed on the Open Division watch list. At the end of the season, between 12 and 16 teams will be taken from their divisions and placed in the new Open Division.

Most notably, Chaminade and L.A. Cathedral are ranked No. 1 and 2 in 3A and both are on the watch list.
