Boys’ basketball: Top four seeds advance to City Section Division I semifinals
So far, the City Section Division I playoffs are going just as everyone expected. The top four seeds have advanced to Saturday’s semifinals at L.A. Southwest College.
On Wednesday, No. 3 Fairfax used an 18-2 third-quarter spurt to pull away from Dorsey, 68-51. Olisaemeka Nwachie had 14 points, including a pair of dunks in the fourth quarter to halt a Dorsey comeback attempt. Sophomore Donald Gipson scored 13 points and Lorne Currie and Pierson Ro each had 11 points. Ali Mohammed and John Staggers each scored 10 points for Dorsey.
No. 2 El Camino Real received 29 points from Julian Richardson in an 85-64 win over Washington. Evan Wardlow added 13 points and nine rebounds. El Camino Real will face Fairfax at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
No. 1 Westchester routed Palisades, 76-48. Laydon Gooden had 15 points. The Comets will meet Narbonne at 8 p.m. Narbonne held off Fremont, 56-46. Reverend Madvakor scored 18 points. Marquis Mckinzy led Fremont with 17 points.
