Football: Cathedral Coach Kevin Pearson is suspended for shoving incident
Cathedral Coach Kevin Pearson said Monday night that he has been suspended by his administration for one week for his actions in shoving one of his players on Friday night near the conclusion of his team’s 24-17 victory over St. Francis.
Pearson said he was wrong in the way he acted. He will not be allowed to attend practices this week or attend Friday’s Angelus League game against Harvard-Westlake. Line coach David Torres will be the acting head coach.
Pearson was seen shoving one of his players who had tried to restrain him from going after an official.
“I feel I should be suspended,” Pearson said earlier Monday. “I’m embarrassed how I reacted.”
Pearson said he was trying to call a timeout but both the player and an assistant coach thought he was going after an official and sought to prevent him.
Cathedral is 9-0 on the season.
